#16: Helping Our Children Cope With Anxiety And Stress (Tip 4)

Tip 4 – Help your children to have a healthy view of success and failure

We can take the sting out of failure by talking about our own mistakes and showing that life still goes on. Our children’s mistakes are disappointing for them, even painful, but we must not allow failure to equal shame. Also, do not try to rescue your children every time they get something wrong. It is tempting to try to fix their problems for them. So, if they lose anything important, or miss out on some important practice session, and are consequently dropped from the main event, we may be tempted to ring the leader or coach to try to change their mind. That will not help.

Children have to learn from the experience, take responsibility for their mistake, and think of a better way of handling or correcting their mistake or negligence.

Our children need to have a healthy view of success and failure in their life, this is very important in the forming of their life in a healthy way. Let us as parents not hinder that from happening by jumping in to rescue them.

Hope this tip will be helpful to you. Look forward to the next tip next week. Meanwhile, consciously keep working on this tip.
