Speak and so do as those who will be judged by the law of liberty. (James 2:12)

We desire enrichment in our marriage, but we have a bit of a communication problem. Each of us care deeply for the other, but we rarely express it. We are extremely reserved people. In addition to having trouble verbalizing our feelings, we also make poor eye contact and exhibit very closed body language when we talk to one another.

This happens when we have some unresolved hurt within our relationship and we lack expressiveness. To tackle this issue we want to give you each a list of twenty things we can say to each other to exalt each other:
You’re incredible!
You’re fantastic!
You’re beautiful!
You’re unique!
You’re precious!
You’re important!
You’re sensational!
You’re exciting!
You’re good for me!
You’re are a good friend!
You’re a delight to live with!
You mean a lot to me!
You make me happy!
You make me laugh!
You brighten my day!
You mean the world to me!
You are a joy!
You’re wonderful!
You’re the best!
You’re a blessing from God!

Now pick one of the exaltations that expresses your inner feelings, then hold hands, look each other in the eye, and verbalize it. It will be difficult at first, but you will overcome it. But do it heartfully! This will help you reach the goal of enrichment in your marriage.

Today’s Scripture verse reminds us that the law of liberty, Christ’s law of love, will impact our speech. It’s an important truth that words carry with them the power to tear down as well as the power to build up

May we always purposely speak words that build up our spouses.
